X, thrilled to meet Y, asked if there was any favor he might do for him. Y replied, "Yes, stand out of my sunlight." X still declared, "If I were not X, then I would wish to be you.
Y was also the supposed inspiration for a fictional club , Z, whose members are educated, yet untalkative and have a dislike of socializing, much like the philosopher himself. Give me X and Y.
ANSWER : Alexander the Great and Diogenes the Cynic. Z is Diogenes Club (popularized by Arthur Conan Doyle in The Greek Interpreter). Cracked by all.
