You're not one of us

X was a farm boy turned astronomer who discovered Pluto in 1930, although it's presence had been detected in 1919. Detected as a result of anomalies in the behavior of Neptune and Uranus, X decided to name the planet as Pluto after an eleven-year-old girl suggested the name of the Roman god of Underworld. Recently, X traveled farther than any human has traveled – at least parts of him when NASA's New Horizons space probe carrying his ashes did a flyby of Pluto. Id X.

Whoops!

The robotic comet landing Philae successfully touched on the surface 67P on 12 November 2014. However, due to an unforeseen event, it ran out of its primary power and the solar cells could not be charged properly, leading to the probe shutting down after a few days. Recently however, due to the comet’s movement, the probe was able to charge its solar batteries and is functioning as expected. What was the event that caused this problem?
