impossibly long ash........

Though he loved cigar, he used to smoke only half of each cigar but kept the butts. No matter where we went - anywhere in the world - his staff had to collect all the butts and put them in a special box. That box was brought back and the butts were handed to one of the gardeners, who used to smoke them in his pipe.
He prepared for difficult negotiations by sticking a hatpin into a cigar, then later lighting and smoking the cigar until the attention of the entire audience was on the impossibly long ash (wondering when it would fall off) and not on any of the points his opponent was trying to make.Yeah, he was smart !!

Who was he ?

The Deal....

'The Deal' is a 2002 TV-movie. It portrays the early life of two young politicians (A & B), trying to make it big and ultimately one going all the way to grab the top job. Throughout the story one get's to witness their friendship where one (B) supports the other (A) even agreeing to endorse the person in case one of them ever get's to lead the party in the future. When one such moment arises B forces A to lead from the front. But he chooses to let it go. In a dramatic turn of events later B takes upon him and here's when things take a turn. 'A' refuses to budge and feels betrayed. Sanity prevails and a deal is thus struck between the two.

The drama is around which two real life personalities and their agreement which proves beneficial to both in the long run?

His wish of having a strong representation of 'his tribe' through ________ , his love for a famous singer and one of her renowned songs, his upbringing in a family which owned a women's clothing store and his close association with a politician led to the designing and large scale manufacturing of ___________. He believed it contained all the elements of spirit, harmony, life, nature etc. The original design was modified to cut down the expenses due to one of the raw materials being very expensive.
Now, I want the name of the person, singer/song, the item in question and the expensive raw material ?

Name X.

X’s letters are often credited for initiating the 14th-century Renaissance in public affairs, humanism, and classical Roman culture. As the legend goes, X was being carried away on a litter (palanquin) when he was finally tracked down by Mark Antony’s men. He calmly ordered his men to put the litter down, and held his neck out to be cut in a gladiatorial gesture. His last eloquent words are said to be “There is nothing proper about what you are doing, soldier, but do try to kill me properly."

According to Cassius Dio, Antony's wife took X's head, pulled out his tongue, and jabbed it repeatedly with her hairpin in final revenge against X's power of speech.
