Profit And Loss...

It's a form of banking where there is no charging of interest, instead the the financial institution and the individual share the risk of loss or the fruits of profit. Also, it deals in good and services and not in money. Speculation is not a part of this form of banking and investments are not made in certain areas like- alcohol, gambling, pornography etc. Several economist feel that there wont have been a global economic crisis if such a banking practice was in place. This thought has also led to the rise of institutions which provide the said form of banking. UK has been one of the foremost to adopt it. SBI has promoted it in India.

What kind of banking is being considered as a more dependable form?

RIP Missile Man

RIP Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam

Here's a question in his memory:

APJ's alias while supervising preparations for Pokhran II was X, an in-joke that referred to the Y missile he developed, and the fact that X defended India from Ghauri (Ghauri : also the name of the Pakistani version of N.Korean Rodong missile) Here's the story:

"By noon, the winds still hadn't abated and the outside temperature was a searing 43 degrees Celsius. R. Chidambaram, Atomic Energy Commission chairman, dressed as Major General Natraj(Extra points for those who can tell why "Natraj"), removed his Gorkha hat to stop sweat from streaming down his face. On his left, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, scientific adviser to the defence minister and chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, also incognito, sat impassively. For Operation Shakti, as the nuclear tests were called, Kalam was known as X.

But the mane of silvery white hair that stuck out incongruously from his hat was a dead give away. All this was part of the extraordinary precaution the team had taken to prevent news of its frequent visits to the Pokhran range in Rajasthan from leaking out. With the range storming with Army personnel, it made sense for scientists and engineers to don uniforms so that they could move around without attracting attention"

Give
X
Y
and the reason for the name "Natraj"(optional)

Nasika...

Kaushik Basu is a renowned economist who has worked with GoI in the past and is currently engaged with the World Bank. Mr. Basu is also credited with modifying the Su-doku and making it a two player game called Dui-doku. Apart from this he has also taught at Cornell Univ. In a newspaper article he recalled his meeting with a renowned personality and his curiosity about the surname of that person led to the revelation that it's origin lay in a Sanskrit word "nasika" (for nose).

Basu's meeting with whom was he describing?

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

His wish of having a strong representation of 'his tribe' through ________ , his love for a famous singer and one of her renowned songs, his upbringing in a family which owned a women's clothing store and his close association with a politician led to the designing and large scale manufacturing of ___________. He believed it contained all the elements of spirit, harmony, life, nature etc. The original design was modified to cut down the expenses due to one of the raw materials being very expensive.
Now, I want the name of the person, singer/song, the item in question and the expensive raw material ?

Its Raining iPhone 6 This Season !!

X's CEO Y played Santa Claus to top performers in the company during this holiday season. He gifted iPhone 6s to 3,000 employees, an unusual gesture for the company, accompanied by a mail from Y where he addressed the employees as friends.
Experts feel the effort would be part of an attempt to curb attrition that has been the highest among the top five IT companies of _______(country). X touched a record high attrition rate of 20.1% in the July-September quarter of 2014.Ever since Y took the helm at X, his focus has clearly been on the employees- from easing internal processes to encouraging out-of-the-box thinking. Y has also been stressing on the need to encourage "design thinking", a creative and systematic approach to problem-solving by placing the user at the centre of the experience.

Give X and Y.

Id X and Y.

X was created as an ad-free alternative to existing social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.
The X web site was launched on March 18, 2014, complete with a manifesto that claimed to distinguish it from social networks such as Facebook. The site promised it would never sell user data, proclaiming that "You Are Not A Product".
The social network service officially launched on April 3, although membership registration was only by invitation.
X gained added attention in September 2014, when numerous members of the Y  community left Facebook following the controversial enforcement of its real-name policy, thought to be intended to exclude drag queens in San Francisco.
At its peak, the social network was processing more than 30,000 signup requests an hour.
It is estimated that 20% of sign ups remain active on the site one week after registration
Id X and Y.

Surely, You're Joking Mr. Feynman !

  • X was in news in 2009 regarding a sport Y. It became a topic of heated debate and eventually ended with the rules and regulations of Y being modified.
