Depicting a dystopian world where the world is in a perpetual state of war, it is notable for the eerily similar surveillance system that was exposed by Edward Snowden. Written in the early years of the Cold War, it was initially titled ‘The Last Man in Europe’, showing the cynicism of the general public regarding the political situation.
