Being inspired by the pseudonym Paul _____ used by Paul McCartney, X decided that each one of them would adopt a pseudonym with the surname X, though none of them were actually related. Before their debut at CBGB, the CBGB owner Hilly Kristal's initial response to X was : "Nobody's gonna like you guys, but I'll book you anyway."
