


The insect sort of thing in the first pic derives its name from a certain greek word. From the same greek word, these two gentlemen formed a certain group aimed at "breaking the system". They succeeded, but a certain accident occurred and they decided to disband. ID them if you can, but more importantly, what were they trying to crack, even if it was for a science experiment?
Hint: Movies on similar lines have followed...
Answer: Eudaemonia brachyura (Urotini) of pic 1 is a moth whose name comes from Eudaimonia, Greek for 'happiness'. J. Doyne Farmer (pic 3) and Norman Packard (pic 2) headed the group Eudeamons, who found a way to beat the casinos at roulette.
