6. Identify this renowned scientist.(No need for an introduction)

7. __________ is believed to have 'rediscovered' this concept after Hermann von Helmholtz discovered it originally 30 years before. The concept is widely known by this man's name. In 1926, a person from Bell Laboratories found a variation and thus managed to make it to our textbooks. (Sigh!). Name the man and the Bell Labs guy.
