The Stars of the Colosseum

The term X is now-a-days incorrectly used to refer to people in Ancient Rome who went in to combat with wild beasts. X specifically refers to only those who fought men. The term for those who fought with wild animals is Y. There are actually two kinds of Y - the first who were condemned to death via the beasts, and the second kind who faced them voluntarily, for pay or glory.
