Legal Tussles Uff....

Apple and Samsung have been in legal tussle for long over several patent issues. Both the warring parties have had there share of wins and loses. The story of the long drawn court battles began just days before the iPhone launch in 2007. But a very interesting point came when Galaxy Tab maker put forth an argument that the idea of the iPad wasn't original. Instead it was almost four decades old. The proof was given in the form of a minute long video from a movie.

Which geeky director's futuristic project became the basis of an argument to nullify the patent of the iPad by Samsung?

Absolutely Correct !!
Stanley Kubrick's 2001:Space Odyssey had a device which was called 'NewsPad' and the movie was based on Arthur C Clarke's novel. So probably Clarke thought of it first. The iPad was released in 2010, two years after Clarke’s death.
