Overdrive mode!

Due apologies for the long hiatus. Here is a question to kick the blog into overdrive. :-)
The person X designed the engine shown in the second picture that is named after him. It has found extensive use by the company Z, a version of whose engine is shown in the third pic. Give me the name of the person and the company.





























































Answer: This is Felix Wankel, and his Wankel Engine, also known as the Rotary Engine. Mazda has been using it extensively in its range of automobiles.
Interesting bit of trivia, quoting Wiki:
"Felix Wankel, at the NSU Motorenwerke AG, first conceived the design of his rotary engine in 1954. The so-called KKM 57 (the Wankel rotary engine) was constructed by NSU engineer Hanns Dieter Paschke in 1957 without the knowledge of Felix Wankel, who remarked "you've turned my race horse into a plow mare". "

looks like the rotary engine also known as the wankel engine.. so i guess the person is mr. Wankel himself and the company mazda..
