Cracked by Pravin Sharma, brilliant answer!!!

Answer - The first pic is Amphisbaena and it was spawned from the blood that dripped from the Gorgon Medusa's head as Perseus flew over the Libyan Desert with it in his hand.

the one on the right is medusa, the one on the left is.. hydra?
Snake-like monster with grotesque heads. Heracles was sent to kill it for his Second Labor. The problem was, when he cut off one head, two grew back. Heracles's nephew Iolaus managed to counteract this by using firebrands to kill the stumps. However, the ninth head was immortal, but Heracles managed to disable this by burying it deep in the earth.
and as for medusa, she was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until giving it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield.
so the connect is probably "both had to be beheaded to be killed".
