2. painting of Halley's commet
Connect - It is believed that Mark Twain (aka Samuel Clemens) was born the same month as the passing of Halley's comet in November 1835. Halley's Comet passed on November 10th 1835 and Twain was born November 30th 1835. Twain vowed he would "go out"with the passing of the comet, as it passes in 75 year cycles. Halley's comet passed again April 20th 1910, Twain passed April 21st 1910. - Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:13:00 AM

Mark Twain and the Bayeux Tapestry depicting the Halley's comet appearance in 1066.
Since Twain was born and died in the years the comet appeared, I quote his own words, "I came in with Halley's Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don't go out with Halley's Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: 'Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together." - Wednesday, October 28, 2009 10:00:00 AM

At first thought the person on the top looked kind of like Albert Schweitzer, but I couldn't think of a nice story.
The "Painting" on the upper right corner has a sort of a rocket type thing flying. I presume it is a comet. Now, I will go out on a limb and assume it is Halley's Comet.
Now, I immediately associate Halley's Comet with two people - Halley and Mark Twain (whose 76 years of life was bracketed on both sides by the appearance of Halley's comet).
Anyway, Halley was born during the powdered wig era, and before photography. So, I'll go with Mark Twain and the Halley's Comet that marked Mark Twain's Birth and Death - Friday, October 30, 2009 1:01:00 PM
