The forgotten days of chivalry...

The most popular theory for its origin goes thus : The Countess of Salisbury, while dancing with Edward VI, once lost a certain article of her apparel. Gallantly, the king picked it up and uttered the following words :"___ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____". The phrase later became the motto of this organisation, if you can call it that. Which one ?

are you talking about The Times London? or order of the garter?

The article of apparel mentiond was her garter, and the phrase uttered was "Honi soit qui mal y pense," ("Shamed be the person who thinks evil of it").

This is the motto of The Most Noble Order of the Garter(Knighthood)
