Kutub Quizzers Meet at IITD

Kutub Quizzers held a quizzing session at IITD on 23rd December, 2007, at the fag end of the DU quizzing season. Some 25 odd people made it, which included some ‘legends’ (i.e. bhatta, kunal aka “not-funny” :-), etc... ) and many soon-to-be-legends (JJ, DD (cameo appearance), Rawat etc...) attending the session. Fucchas like me and roshan ended up there just to fill some space, and till the end, that is exactly what we were doing. :-)

The questions were pretty good, and some of them were workout-able, including a very interesting series of connects and mega-connects that kept everyone engrossed till the very end. 4 hours of pure unadulterated quizzing was well appreciated by everyone present.

Unfortunately, I have lost my list of questions that I had made. Apparently, the “diligence” of making notes was to be followed by irresponsibility on my part. Although Kutub Quizzers deserves a lot more coverage than what I have posted here, but I guess it’ll have to do...

Though I did make a cameo appearance and came in pretty late for the quiz from what I saw I wouldn't exactly give a "two thumbs up" review.

Probably the first half of the quiz was much better but the Mega-Connect [where I waltzed in] was a little disappointing.

For those who weren't there -
1. US Marines
2. Prince
3. Dada/Dadaism
4. East Bengal Football Club
to give the mega-connect as - Sourav Ganguly. Now, it's a personal opinion but it was next to impossible to get to Sourav Ganguly from US Marines and Prince.

Even the individual questions leading to US Marines, etc. weren't doing so [the leading up bit] quite well.
Although I would say it was pretty gracious of the organisers for not objecting to my waltzing in mid-way.

Yes. I didn't like the connects either, both of them, the football one as well as the best actor one. It was overkill (as all exhaustive connects are).

The dry rounds were quite interesting though. You could tell most of the questions were original, there were a few stinkers (one tip one hand, garden gnome liberation front), but on the whole the standard was quite high, with some very interesting questions: fat lady singing, evel knievel (which udit got, i think), kissing map of France.

The best thing about it was that a lot of people showed up, most of them without teams, and everyone was accommodated.
